Earn rewards for filling out your SWAGO board on Swagbucks (Yes! Again!) :)

The holidays are here and the online rewards site Swagbucks has a smart and fun way for you to earn and save while you spend.
Swagbucks is hosting another round of Shopping Swago! What is SWAGO you ask? It's a bingo-inspired promotion run by Swagbucks, a website that rewards you with points (called SB) for completing everyday online activities. You can redeem those SB for free gift cards. If you've never used Swagbucks, participating in SWAGO is a great introduction to the site and an easy way to earn a good amount of points quickly.

Here’s what you need to know to get your 300 SB ($3) Bonus (and don’t worry, you don’t have to make a purchase to complete a pattern):
  • Shop Swago will begin on Monday, December 18th at 9am PT/12pm ET, make sure you hit “Join” otherwise you won’t get credit for completing the action items. Each square on your Swago Board will contain an action item to complete.
  • Once you complete the action item in a particular square the square will change color signifying the action item is complete.
  • You have a limited amount of time to mark off as many squares as possible so use your time wisely.
  • Be mindful of the patterns and their corresponding bonuses located on the right of your Swago Board. The patterns will vary in difficulty and bonus value - up to 300 SB - enough for your first $3 gift card.
  • Once you’ve achieved a pattern the corresponding “Submit” button will light up. You can have multiple patterns available for submission, however, you can only submit ONE pattern so choose wisely.
  • The game ends Friday, December 22nd at 12pm PDT/3pm EDT. So make sure to hit “Submit” on the pattern you wish to submit. If you don’t hit “Submit” before the game ends you won’t receive your SB bonus.

Also, if you sign up through me this month, you'll get a $10 rebate when you make your first purchase via Swagbucks Shopping! You can activate it in the "Swag Ups" area of "My Account"
I have earned enough to help pay for some Christmas presents this year through Swagbucks~ it really does work~ and some of those points/dollars were earned by fil
ling out my SWAGO board last time around, so it really does pay to play. ;)

Blessings~

Survival Hax: (Hammock Hax?)

So... when I applied to review this sleeping bag it was an abnormally temperate fall, and I was hoping to use it to extend my outside "hammock time" relaxing with a book or kindle. However, by the time my package arrived, the temperatures had dropped a little too dramatically for me to use this 3-season sleeping bag for *my* intended, outside-the-box purpose. That being said, the timing was actually very good for me to bring it along when it was time to go pick my daughter up from college for Christmas break. It's a 7-hour drive and with an 8am "final" Final, I thought it would be best to come out the day before, sleep over, and be able to pack up when she was done.

First benefit~ it is a very light sleeping bag~ which is a consideration when carting bags to the 3rd floor (but 3 flights of stairs, because we come in the basement). I was pleased that it was neither as bulky nor as heavy as our previous sleeping bags.

It also comes with a very nice carrying bag with straps that cover over the drawstring at the top, which I think is probably a safety measure, and if you were backpacking, I think you could use these straps to compress it even more so it would take up less space in your pack.

As far as the bag itself goes~ there are a couple of things that I want to mention.
  • The fabric is very soft and smooth, and extremely comfortable.
  • The head of the bag has a nice roll that worked perfectly to keep my pillows (picture taken before I unpacked them) from sliding and disappearing from beneath my head.
  • The zipper is unique in that you can unzip from the bottom to let some air in if your toes are getting too toasty or you just want to stretch your leg out a bit. This is a huge bonus in my mind, as I frequently have a foot hanging out from under the covers.
Although I didn't have the opportunity to use the sleeping bag outside in my hammock as I had hoped (before the weather turned colder), I look forward to starting my hammocking a little earlier this spring, with this sleeping bag as an insulating layer while I hang out in the yard or lakeside watching Middlest fish.

If you or someone you know might benefit from a new sleeping bag (NOT for winter use), Survival Hax is offering my readers 70% off when purchased either directly on the Survival Hax Website, or through Amazon, using the code SLYP75BG.

What would YOU use this sleeping bag for?

Hope that you
Blessings~

Huevos Rancheros Sweet Potato Soup (Recipe)

So... sometimes Necessity is the Mother of Invention....

This week we didn't have much in the fridge or the cupboards, and ran out of time to run to the store, so it was time to come up with what my DH likes to call a McGyver Meal. ;)
I had some sweet potatoes that I'd cooked in the Instant Pot on Monday, and I had some eggs for protein. With the addition of a can of green chile tomatoes it ended up having a bit of one of my dad's favorite flavors, a "Mexican Ranch Style Eggs" flair.

It turned out well enough that it was deemed necessary to document the basic recipe for future reference. I don't have pictures beyond the finished product but this is the process:

2 TBSP Olive Oil
1 onion chopped
3 carrots shopped
4 baked sweet potatoes (these were leftovers in the fridge~ instant pot cooked)
1 can of tomatoes with green chiles
1.5 boxes of chicken stock
Frozen Corn
Cumin (optional)
Celery Salt
1-2 eggs per person

1. Saute' chopped onions in olive oil till translucent.
2. Add chopped carrots and saute' for another 5-10 minutes, till soft
3. Blend up the baked sweet potatoes, onions, carrots and can of tomato/chiles in the blender.
4. Pour back into the pot and use the chicken stock in the blender to clean out the rest of the vegetable puree', and add to the pot.
5. Season with cumin and Celery Salt to taste.
6. Bring to a boil
7. Add the frozen corn~ 1/4 cup to 1 cup
8. Gently slide each raw egg into the pot of soup, and allow to "poach" for 3-4 minutes.

Serve in a bowl with toast for a yummy and somewhat unique take on poached eggs for dinner.

If you try it out let me know what your verdict is!

Blessings~
