Welcome to my first review for the TOS CREW~
http://www.helpme2teach.com/
This is a subscription website that has numerous educational websites listed and categorized to help those teaching K-12. It is not exclusively homeschool focused, but the website author welcomes homechoolers, and their comments/suggestions.
Pros:• Helpful for those who aren’t well-versed in using search engines, or for a "Safer search site" for kids and teens• Good for those who are overwhelmed with numerous returns that search engines bring.• The websites are reviewed regularly• The sites are color-coded and ranked by age/interest, which can be helpful in weeding out some of the sites that aren’t age-appropriate.• The table of contents allows one to browse by subject of interest~ helping save time by allowing one to see what topics are included, and which topics need to searched for elsewhere.
Cons:
• Cost~ Personally, my website searches are successful enough, that I wouldn’t be willing to pay for a subscriber service, however, if this is a good fit for you, there is a special running right now that could be a huge PRO:2 years @ $29.95 (Update: a special through December)Right now you can buy a 1 year subscription and get a 2nd year FREE. That means you get 2 years' subscription for UNDER $30! When subscribing, use the code TOS in the box that says Discount Code to access this offer.
3 mos. for $15.95
1 mo. for $9.95
3 days for $4.95 (This is a good option to check it out, and see if what is offered is helpful to your particular situation)
• It includes numerous sites with which I am already familiar• Searches that aren't intuitive for me (a search for Periodic Table brought up 4 appropriate science sites, and numerous math sites..??)• The content isn’t diverse enough yet… there are too many topics that I looked for that came up empty.
This is a dynamic, growing website, with a real person who listens at the other end.
I could see it eventually becoming more useful, as the mechanics are tweaked, and the content grows.
